With our singular focus to alleviate poverty and improve the livelihoods of the underprivileged in Southeast Asia,
we believe in more than just “giving a man a fish to feed for the day”.

2004-2006

Phum Trea

  • One-off medical assistance trip becomes annual medical mission.

2007-2009

Phum Trea

  • 4-year English Language programme is launched for 150 children.

2010

Phum Trea

  • Classroom with 75 desks is set up at Hope Centre for English Language programmes.
  • 130 students graduate to Year 2 of 4-year programme.
  • Cottage industry is started with provision of sewing machines and needlework class for the women.

2011-2012

Phum Trea

  • Teacher’s training programme in Phnom Penh and an immersion trip to pre-schools in Singapore provides teaching skills to 7 teachers and teaching aids.

Kampong Speu

  • 76 families move into the site.
  • Food, cooking pots and mosquito nets are distributed.
  • Farm animals and seeds for crops are distributed.
  • Materials for wells are distributed.
  • 3 drinking water filtering systems are installed.
  • Hope Centre School is set up.

2013

Phum Trea

  • 3 English graduates from the first cohort now teach English at the school.
  • New school building with 6 teachers opens.
  • English program is extended to Level 4 and the introduction of Computer and Business skill to youth.

Kampong Speu

  • Workshop is conducted for trainee-teachers development.
  • English Language for pre-school is set up for 70 students.
  • Primary school classes are started.
  • Funds are raised for concrete houses; houses are built for 10 families.
  • Drinking water filtering systems are installed in the school.
  • Villagers are trained to grow and harvest crops for sustainable livelihood.
  • Farmers are trained to use environmentally-friendly techniques. First crop harvest; Success story – one family earns USD500 from first corn harvest. A significant increase for some families with their household income of USD80.
  • Cattle and chicken free range farming is introduced.
  • The search for 40 new families to be invited to the new land.

2014

Phum Trea

  • 5 Teachers and some students participated together with 500 youths at the Inaugural Actions for Earth – Global Youths Summit in Singapore.
  • The students have the chance to interact with foreign volunteers from England and Singapore.

Kampong Speu

  • Land is cleared for 40 more families.
  • Villagers are trained in entrepreneurial skills.
  • First round of sustainable farming activities begins with the introduction of Moringa, a cash crop.
  • The children have the chance to interact and learn with foreign volunteers from America, England and Singapore.

2015

Phum Trea

  • 50 top students visit Hope Village Zero Carbon Resettlement Project site in Chey Senchey village in Kampong Speu.
  • Support for the English Language programme continues.

Kampong Speu

  • 37 brick homes are completed.
  • 40 new families are resettled.
  • Mosque building is completed.
  • Volunteers from Singapore support the community with first aid, teaching English, interaction and assist the family in farming and house building.

2016

Phum Trea

  • The number of students continue to increase to 270 cramping them in the 2 classrooms. Decision is inevitable to move to a bigger space.

Kampong Speu

  • 116 wells for all the families with 2 wells for the mosque and school are completed to provide water source for each family, and communal areas like Education Centre, and areas for religious worship.
  • 47 brick homes are completed.
  • The first Biodigester (waste to energy system) is introduce to one family providing free cooking gas and compost for the farm.
  • More student volunteers from Singapore support the community, interacting with the children and assist the families in farming and house building.

2017

Phum Trea

  • 276 students enrolled to learn English.
  • 16 learn commerce and entrepreneurial skills.
  • 7 take on vocational skills.
  • 62 children enrolled in our kindergarten.
  • 86 toddlers are under our nursery care.
  • In February Hope Village Centre move to their new School for 245 students. After 10 years of free education for the community, students pay a nominal fee for their workbooks.

Kampong Speu

  • 53 brick homes are completed.
  • 1 school library built.
  • 1 religious school built for dedicated religious studies.
  • 108 students enrolled in our Education Centre to learn English.
  • 4 notebook computers allow to learn skills from Year 2 onwards.
  • The first Biodigester (waste to energy system) is introduce to one family providing free cooking gas and compost for the farm.
  • More student volunteers from Singapore support the community, interacting with the children and assist the families in farming and house building.
